The USA from ground level

My recent retirement (ha!) gives me a shot at some long-deferred gratification. I've seen little of the western two-thirds of the U.S. In three days my Prius and I leave D.C. on our Big Adventure.

The "ha!" is because, despite giving notice in November 2008, I'm still spending a few hours a week maintaining my employer's websites. At some point they'll hire my replacement. In the meantime I'll be traveling with two laptops: mine and one for work.

Here's my itinerary, very loosely woven and subject to change. As you see, it's mostly about people even though I plan lots of sightseeing. If you are anywhere near this route and have time for a brief visit, let me know. Use my e-mail or cell number if you know it. I'll experiment with leaving this blog open to comments but consider your privacy when commenting - the Net is a public place.

You'll notice that I'm mostly staying south. The mountains of snow everywhere in D.C. should be explanation enough. In a couple of months Penny the Prius and I will take an even longer trip across the northern U.S. and into Canada.

Around March 1-10: Bay area - Sigrid and Susan, Alex and Sigrid Glenn, Darcy and Kat, Lakenda...
